Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool contract is due to expire at the end of the season, with the Reds in a race against time.
The 32-year-old attacker has been arguably the best player in the world this season with Theo Walcott backing Salah to win the Ballon d’Or as the Liverpool winger looks set to win the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker awards.
Despite the forward’s contract situation, there have been positive hints that Salah will sign a new deal with Liverpool, even with time slowly running out for the Reds to award their star attacker with fresh terms.
However, recent reports in Spain seem to suggest that Salah is now looking towards his future away from Liverpool, with an approach to FC Barcelona being made despite one big issue.

Mohamed Salah has offered himself to FC Barcelona despite financial problems
According to Sport, Salah has offered himself to Barcelona despite the La Liga giants financial problems, meaning the Catalan side currently can’t match the Liverpool winger’s current financial package with the Anfield side.
Barcelona have been linked with Salah for some time with Hansi Flick’s side also interested in signing Luis Diaz, with the Liverpool winger viewed as the next attacking superstar for the Camp Nou side heading into next season.
However, Salah’s potential exit from Liverpool could see Barcelona change their transfer strategy, given how good a signing the Egyptian international would be for the European titans heading into next season.
Yet with Barcelona’s financial situation as bad as it is, there will have to be some serious turnover in the squad if the Catalan side are to meet Salah’s financial demands this summer, where the winger might be expecting a bumper pay increase for the final big contract of his career.
Could Mohamed Salah realistically join Barcelona this summer?
With Salah still attracting interest from Saudi Pro League sides, the chances of the Liverpool superstar leaving Anfield this summer seems to be growing with each passing day a new contract isn’t signed.
And although Barcelona are one of the most appealing clubs in the world for any player, the club’s financial problems make signing a player as big as Salah seemingly impossible unless a number of big sales are made.
Indeed, Salah has earned the right to decide where he wants to be next season, yet if the winger is looking to end his career with a lucrative contract, Barcelona is not the right destination for the Liverpool forward.
