Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu
Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu, has pledged his commitment to working with all key stakeholders to improve the living conditions of the people in the area.
He said that although the area had witnessed progress in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, there was still a need for improvements in the socio-economic lives of the people.
Addressing the 68th Independence Day anniversary celebrations at Kumawu, he emphasized the importance of the present generation of leaders making sacrifices to improve the lives of the people, just as the country’s forebearers had done.
He stated that the Independence Day celebration was a monumental event in the history of the nation.
“It is a day for honoring the sacrifices of our forebears, whose courage and vision liberated us from the bonds of colonialism and guided us toward self-determination.
This year’s celebration, embodied by the theme: ‘Reflect, Review, Reset,’ urges us to pause, reflect on our journey, and rededicate ourselves to the ideals of unity, progress, and prosperity,” he stated.
Anim pointed out that reflecting on the past revealed that the nation’s independence was “born from the sweat, blood, and tears of our heroes, including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Yaa Asantewaa, Joseph Boakye Danquah, and countless others, who tirelessly fought for our freedom.
As we reflect, let us remember the values that guided our founding: unity, resilience, and selflessness.
Regarding reviewing, in which we assess the past, we must acknowledge both our achievements and our challenges.”
He said he would work to ensure the completion of the Kumawu Anglican to Nkwanta, Besoro, through Bodomase to Woraso road, as well as the TK Junction to Sekyere Kumawu District Hospital road at Kumawu.
He emphasized the importance of addressing challenges, particularly unemployment among the youth, and encouraged citizens to work together to overcome these difficulties.
Emmanuel Appiah-Kubi, the District Coordinating Director, urged citizens to prioritize the principles of equality, justice, and empathy while focusing on promoting economic opportunities, addressing educational disparities, and fostering social unity.
