Gavi praised Pedri on Tuesday, saying: “Everyone knows the kind of player he is,” adding that last year, injuries prevented him from showing his true potential but insisted that, for him, Pedri is currently the best midfielder around.
The Andalusian midfielder also praised his fellow Spaniard, Raphinha, who scored a brace in the match. Gavi stated that Raphinha is a “Ballon d’Or contender,” stressing the importance of him maintaining his form for the remainder of the season.
Regarding Lamine Yamal’s assist on Raphinha’s first goal, Gavi jokingly remarked that the winger’s intention was actually to shoot, not pass. “He says he wanted to assist, but come on,” he laughed.
The midfielder also reaffirmed his commitment to Barcelona, dismissing any rumours of a move elsewhere. “I’ve signed a five-year deal, and I’ll be here until I can’t anymore. This is the club of my life,” Gavi added.
Finally, Gavi expressed his satisfaction with his current role at Barcelona, citing the trust he receives from coach Hansi Flick: “We rotate a lot, but I’m happy with the manager, he gives me a lot of confidence.”
