Asante Kotoko’s lawyer, Sarfo Duku, has disclosed that all the accused persons who were in police custody in connection with the murder of the late Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, have now been granted bail.

According to Duku, the court reconvened on March 11 to deliver its ruling on two bail applications submitted by the legal representatives of the first, second, and sixth accused persons during the last hearing.

Speaking to the media after the court proceedings, Duku revealed that the judge ruled that the three accused persons have been granted bail of GH₵300,000 each.

“The court has granted three accused persons in the second case bail, and the conditions are that three persons each should stand for them as sureties with the bail sum of GH₵300,000 each,” he said.

He further stated that the suspects must remain within the provinces of Sunyani and Nsoatre, with any travel outside these areas requiring prior court approval.

“Each of the accused persons must report to the regional Police CID twice a week and are not allowed to travel outside Sunyani or Nsoatre without permission from the court,” he added.

Pooley was fatally stabbed during Kotoko’s clash against Nsoatreman on Sunday, February 2, 2025. The incident occurred after an on-field altercation between players escalated into the stands, resulting in the horrific tragedy.

Following the attack, the Ghana Police Service embarked on an investigation to bring justice to the deceased’s family, leading to the arrest of multiple suspects, including Nsoatreman owner Ignatius Baffour-Awuah.
