The Adisadel College Millennium (2000) Year Group has cemented its legacy by undertaking one of the most ambitious alumni-driven projects in the school’s history. On Saturday, March 8, during the institution’s 115th Speech and Prize-Giving Day, the group officially unveiled the newly remodeled and refurbished Job 600 building—a transformation valued at over GH¢4 million.

The extensive renovation was made possible through a combination of funding sources, including GH¢4,742,582.48 raised internally, GH¢500,000 secured from external sources, and GH¢757,417.52 received through sponsorships and in-kind donations.

Speaking at the event, the President of the Millennium Year Group, Richard Nii Amu Arthur, highlighted the group’s dedication to making a lasting impact on Adisadel College.

“As a year group focused on setting new benchmarks, we wanted to embark on a project that would create meaningful change. Rather than constructing a new building, we recognized the urgent need to revitalize an existing, deteriorating facility—the Job 600 (Science Building).

“Through extensive consultations with the General Executive Council, we committed ourselves to transforming this multipurpose space into a world-class educational facility, ensuring that Adisadel College remains at the forefront of academic excellence,” he stated.

Despite initial doubts about the feasibility of such a large-scale refurbishment—particularly given the financial and logistical challenges that had halted previous efforts—the group remained steadfast in its commitment.

“Today, the remodeled Job 600 is a cutting-edge educational hub, standing as a testament to what vision, collaboration, and determination can achieve,” Arthur added.

The newly renovated Job 600 building now includes:

Amphitheater – A modern, fully equipped venue for lectures, seminars, and performances.

Emerging Technology Lab – A dynamic space dedicated to fostering innovation and technological advancement.

National Science & Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) Room – A specialized facility designed to support the school’s participation in the prestigious national competition.

Computer Lab – Outfitted with cutting-edge hardware and software for digital learning.

Physics Lab – A high-tech laboratory fostering hands-on experimentation.

Media Center – A contemporary hub for educational and recreational media resources.

Promoting STEAM education for national development

The 115th Speech and Prize-Giving Day was themed “The Role of STEAM Education for National Development in the 21st Century.” Delivering the keynote address was renowned NASA scientist Dr. Ave Kludze Klutse, an alumnus from the Class of ’83.

Dr. Kludze encouraged students to delve into STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) subjects, engage in extracurricular activities, and stay informed about advancements in their fields of interest.

He also proposed the creation of an “Emerging Technologies” club, pledging to support the initiative as its founding patron.

“I encourage you to seize this opportunity, pursue your passions, and position yourselves as the innovators and problem-solvers of tomorrow. In this digital era, nations that prioritize STEAM education are poised for success, while those that do not risk falling behind,” he advised.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests including, Otwasuom Osae Nyampong VI, Patron of the Millennium Year Group, honored the occasion with his presence.

The Guest of Honour, Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology (MEST), Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, represented President John Dramani Mahama.

The successful completion of the Job 600 project stands as a landmark achievement, demonstrating the power of alumni-led initiatives. It serves as an enduring source of inspiration for future generations of Adisadel College students and alumni, reinforcing a culture of giving back and fostering institutional excellence.
