The important thing was to keep winning

Real Madrid’s Uruguayan midfielder Fede Valverde said on Sunday, after the 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano, that his team’s match “was not one of the best of the season”, but stressed the importance of “winning and continuing to earn more points”.

“I am in favour of the fact that the important thing is to win. It was not one of the best games of the season, it was tough. But the important thing is to win and keep earning points to prepare for what is coming, which is very important,” he said on ‘Real Madrid TV’.

Fede Valverde was a substitute and played 23 minutes against Rayo Vallecano, in the process of recovering his fitness after missing three games before the derby against Atletico Madrid last Tuesday.

“I am happy. On a mental level I am calm about what we are doing to physically recover my body. With the help of the doctors, physios and my close people, I have the energy to keep growing and be back to 100% with the team”, he explained.

In addition, the Uruguayan pondered the fact that on Sunday he will play his 200th game for Real Madrid in La Liga. “It is a tremendous honour to play for the best team in the world. It’s a source of pride to continue achieving goals and winning. This is part of my close people, my teammates and the fans,” he concluded.
