Prosper Narteh Ogum, the head coach of Asante Kotoko, has voiced strong support for maintaining the current security measures at league venues, stressing their significance in maintaining order and safety during games. Ogum praised the advancements in security measures and urged authorities not to relax them after his team’s most recent match.
It would be ideal if the enhanced security measures remained unchanged. They have contributed to maintaining discipline and safeguarding fans, officials, and players,” he stated. Concerns about fan violence and pitch invasions in Ghanaian football are growing, which is why the call was made.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and security agencies have enacted stricter rules at match venues as a result of several alarming incidents. One of Ghana’s largest football clubs, Kotoko, has frequently been at the center of violent confrontations, making security a top priority.
Ogum is of the opinion that the league’s reputation will be enhanced and a safer environment for all stakeholders will result from consistent enforcement. It remains to be seen whether authorities will heed the Kotoko coach’s call and ensure that security remains a top priority at all venues as the Ghana Premier League intensifies.
