The Member of Parliament of Tamale South and Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has issued a strong caution to Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging them to take accountability seriously and avoid underestimating the memory of the Ghanaian populace concerning their perceived mismanagement of the economy.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on March 7, 2025, he underscored that Ghanaians are highly observant and will not easily overlook the economic hardships they endured under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led administration.

“Don’t think that tomorrow, there will be an election and Ghanaians will forget how you mismanaged this economy with a sinkhole economy and a sinkhole debt,” he said.

His remarks came in the wake of a debate sparked by President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), delivered on February 27, 2025.

About the 2025 SONA

President John Dramani Mahama has delivered his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) since starting his second term in office.

He reflected on how life can be unpredictable and thanked Ghanaians for trusting him with such a historic win.

With strong support in Parliament, he promised to fix the economy and ease the struggles people are facing.

He also praised Parliament for quickly approving his ministerial nominees, calling it a record achievement.

He encouraged lawmakers to keep up the momentum by confirming his deputy ministers quickly so they can start working on government plans right away.
