I will do push-ups and carry him on my back

According to TV3 News, prominent economist Professor Stephen Adei has stated that he would carry President John Mahama on his back as a gesture of appreciation if the President successfully eliminates corruption in Ghana.

During an appearance on the KeyPoints program with Alfred Ocansey on March 8, Prof. Adei expressed his dedication to the fight against corruption, highlighting it as the primary barrier to the nation’s progress.

“Even though I’m an old man, I will do push-ups and physically put him on my back,” Prof. Adei said.

He cautioned that without substantial reforms, Ghana would continue to lag in both economic and social development.

To address this issue, Prof. Adei proposed the creation of a specialized anti-corruption court in Ghana aimed at accelerating the handling of corruption cases and ensuring accountability.

He noted that the protracted nature of current corruption trials allows wrongdoers to evade justice, advocating for a judicial system distinct from the regular courts, similar to land or commercial courts, to speed up proceedings.

He emphasized the necessity for these special courts to operate efficiently, stating that delays of several years in corruption cases are unacceptable.

Furthermore, Prof. Adei called for robust anti-corruption measures that enhance the likelihood of offenders being caught and held accountable, regardless of their political connections.

His advocacy for an anti-corruption court aligns with increasing calls for judicial reforms to effectively tackle corruption in Ghana.
