Flying Cities crash land in the Asiedu ‘et la’ Poku-zone

Asante Kotoko delivered a narrow victory upon resumption of the Premier League to appease the spirit of slain ardent fan’ Francis Frimpong, alias Pooley.

The Porcupines performance at their Baba Yara Stadium home grounds wasn’t as impressive as expected, but they were able to bring high-flying Legon Cities crashing down to earth by 1-0.

Asante Kotoko came in off the back of a pathetic 1-0 defeat at Nsoatreman, while Cities hopes to be the league’s surprise package as they work hard to rise out of the red zone and earn a spot in the Premier League next season.

It was Kotoko who rebounded back to their brilliant sequence of form under coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, led by Patrick Asiedu and Kwame Poku’s goals.

Asiedu’s 2nd league goal of the campaign – and only his first at home – gave Kotoko the lead after 29 minutes when he lashed home a beauty.

Cities hopes of a recovery were extinguished early in the second half when Kotoko hit top gear, Poku driving home the second with a penalty kick after eighty-seven minutes as Cities fell apart under Kotoko’s barrage.

The Porcupines have added a glorious layer of unpredictability to the Premier League this season with their rise up to first on the table with 37 points, mentioned alongside Hearts of Oak and Gold Stars in the title mix.

Legon Cities on the other hand have flown downwards to 17th place on seventeen points.
