One of Chelsea’s biggest icons is continuing to make waves in management after two spells in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s legends don’t get any bigger than Frank Lampard after his illustrious spell as a player in West London, winning near enough every trophy that was available to him.
The Englishman’s first spell in charge of the club is looked on as successful too. He set the foundations for Thomas Tuchel to go on and win the Champions League back in 2021.
Now, Lampard is in charge of Coventry City, taking over the Championship side in November when they were flirting with the relegation zone.
Fast forward to now though, and the Sky Blues sit comfortably in the play-off places, recently putting together a run of eight wins in nine league games.

Chelsea fans compare Frank Lampard to Enzo Maresca after thrilling Coventry win
This sensational spell continued with a thrilling 3-2 win over Stoke City, where a 97th minute winner sent the home fans crazy.
Coventry fans have been delighted by Lampard and the impact he made, with Chelsea supporters keeping a close eye on how he is getting on in his return to a hot seat.
The Blues are undergoing a poor run of form with Enzo Maresca at the helm. Before their game against Leicester City, they are out of the top four after having a chance to go top of the league back in December.
Many Chelsea fans have reminisced about the time Lampard was in charge at Stamford Bridge, being critical of the current man in charge while their club legend thrives in the division below.
One user said: “Frank Lampard makes it 7 wins in the last 8 Championship games. That’s 21 points – more than Maresca has accumulated since December 4th, 2024.”

Another stated: “Just a reminder that Frank Lampard came to Chelsea in a transfer ban, lost Eden Hazard. One of the Youngest Teams in the League, and finished Top 4 with 66 points that season. Let’s see if Maresca can match that.”

Chelsea’s stance on Enzo Maresca
Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali will be desperate for their side to achieve some continuinty with the manager, after brief spells for Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino in charge.
This is perhaps backed up by reports Maresca is ‘untouchable’ at Chelsea right now, despite the lull in form of late.
The Blues have the chance to return to the top four with a win against Leicester, before they look to book their place in the Conference League quarter-finals after a first leg win against Copenhagen.
Champions League football would certainly be important to Chelsea fans, with it likely that five teams qualify from the Premier League this season.
