In a fiery response to lawyer and journalist Samson Lardy Anyenini’s call for his arrest, outspoken media personality Kevin Taylor has dismissed the remarks as a personal vendetta rather than a national concern.
Speaking in a video shared on his social media page, Taylor downplayed Anyenini’s relevance, stating that he would not waste energy responding to him. Instead, he launched a scathing critique of Anyenini’s performance as the host of the popular news analysis show Newsfile, aired on Joy News.
“Why should I respond to Samson Anyenini? He has a personal issue with me; it’s not a national issue, so I don’t want to waste my energy on him,” Taylor said.
He alleged that Newsfile has lost its appeal since Anyenini took over as host, describing his style as uninspiring and disconnected from the discussions. According to Taylor, the show, once a flagship program of the Multimedia Group, has seen declining viewership due to what he perceives as Anyenini’s lack of dynamism.
“Since he took over Newsfile, the program is basically dead. There is nothing exciting about the host; he is flat, he cannot get involved in the conversation, and he is not abreast with the issues,” Taylor stated.
Taylor further claimed that Newsfile is no longer attracting advertisers because of its declining appeal. He advised Multimedia to replace Anyenini with a younger, more vibrant journalist who understands current issues and can engage viewers more effectively.
“He is not a television person. He’s not appealing. He’s supposed to be sacked. If care is not taken, the show is going to die,” he added.
Taylor’s comments follow an ongoing public dispute between the two media figures. Previously, Anyenini denied allegations Taylor made about his involvement in the controversial Agyapa deal, clarifying that his law firm had never conducted business with any government in Ghana since its establishment in 2014.
