Scores of disgruntled caterers under the School Feeding Programme have issued a stern warning to the Controller & Accountant General to release their held-up funds immediately or risk incurring the wrath of powerful gods, as they will be forced to rain curses on him.

According to the angry caterers, they have visited the offices of the Controller & Accountant General on three occasions, yet their pleas for payment have fallen on deaf ears.

In a video shared on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the caterers stated that their patience has been stretched thin, and they will soon resort to other means to have their monies released.

“If he (Controller & Accountant General) doesn’t release our funds after the month has ended and he receives his salary, we will invoke curses on him. We are owed 32 days of work multiplied by the number of children each of us feeds daily. If the Controller & Accountant General, sitting in an air-conditioned office, believes he has worked while we stand by hot fires to cook and still refuses to pay us, then if he takes his salary and uses part of it to care for his family, we will invoke curses on him,” one of the angry caterers said.

“If the previous government left our funds with the current government, then the government should simply release our money. There shouldn’t be any resistance or delay,” another added.

The outgoing Akufo-Addo-led government began paying overdue funds to caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme, marking a crucial step towards addressing the long-standing issue of delayed payments.

On December 31, 2024, the government made good on its promise, with payments beginning at around 6 p.m. Nana Amoh Otu Sekyi, the national president of the School Feeding Caterers Association, confirmed that some caterers were able to access the funds on January 1, 2025, thanks to e-switch machines located outside certain banks.
