Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo
The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has asserted that he has no trust in the former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.
Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV on March 4, 2025, Isaac Adongo indicated that any person who trusts the former minister does so at his or her own peril.
Asked why he does not support Ofori-Atta, the MP, who was recently appointed by President John Dramani Mahama as a member of the Board of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), said, “Eii!!! What are you saying? Me?… at the peril of my life.”
He added, “I’m surprised that this country ended up with such a finance minister. To be honest with you, I’m very surprised that we ended up like that. I’m extremely surprised.”
He cited an example of Ken Ofori-Atta supposedly telling investors that Ghana’s economy was strong and could repay its debts, only to turn back a few days later to say the country could not meet its debt obligation.
“Because how do you blame a finance minister who, as late as February 2022, was convincing people to give us $3 billion because the economy was robust? February 2022, go and check our last Eurobond issuance in seven, nine, eight months’ time, this man had written a letter to the same people that we can’t pay.
“He didn’t even write to them; he wrote an open letter or ‘to whom it may concern’. You collect people’s money, and you inform them via a ‘to whom it concerns’ press release. If you happen to read it, know that what you are seeing is what I, Ken Ofori-Atta, have said,” Adongo added.
