Jose Mourinho is the manager for Fenerbahce
Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has been handed a four-match ban and fined £35,000 by the Turkish Football Federation.
This comes after Mourinho’s post-match press conference following his side’s goalless draw with Galatasaray on Monday, February 24, 2025, was perceived as a taunt directed at the club and its players.
This prompted Galatasaray to initiate legal proceedings against the former Real Madrid coach, an allegation Fenerbahce denied in a statement.
Despite that, the Turkish Football Federation charged Mourinho on two counts, the first for “his derogatory and offensive statements towards the Turkish referee” and because he “accused Turkish football of chaos and disorder with insulting and offensive statements towards both the Turkish football community and all Turkish referees.”
As a result, the Portuguese has been hit with a four-match ban and a £35,194 fine. He was also banned from the dressing room and dugout for two games and fined 117,000 Turkish lira (£2,543).
Although the declaration was made on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Mourinho was able to take charge of Fenerbahce’s 4-1 Turkish Cup win at Gaziantep. His suspension, however, starts on Sunday’s league clash with Antalyaspor.
