Some commercial drivers in the Ashanti Region are calling on President John Dramani Mahama to reduce taxes on petroleum products in his upcoming State of the Nation Address.

They believe that lowering these taxes will lead to a decrease in fuel prices at the pumps.

Speaking to OTEC News, the drivers expressed their expectations, hoping the president will announce measures that positively impact their livelihoods, including a reduction in fuel taxes.

President Mahama is scheduled to deliver the State of the Nation Address on Thursday, February 27, 2025 as announced by the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Mahama Ayariga, on the floor of Parliament on February 14.

This appeal comes at a time when the government is under pressure to address the country’s economic challenges.

President Mahama has previously outlined his plans to transform Ghana’s economy, including implementing a 24-hour economy and reducing taxes.
