Chelsea make approach to hire ‘football expert’ who would be perfect for them, protesting fans will be pleased

As Chelsea temporarily returned to the top four on the pitch with a dominant 4-0 win over Southampton, the story of the evening was what was going on off the pitch.

Supporters were in attendance way before kick off to protest outside Stamford Bridge, with their discontent at the ownership clear to see.

Some were left confused why the protest was aimed at Todd Boehly, with many believing the roles of the Sporting Directors are more cause for concern.

The frustration seemed to follow fans into the game, and despite the win there was loud jeers for Filip Jorgensen as Chelsea were patient in their build up play.

There is an appetite for the club to make changes at board level, and given the club’s status as one of the elite clubs in Europe they will feel they should be targeting the very best out there.

Chelsea make approach to hire Luis Campos

One of those who is seen in that light is Luis Campos, currently working for PSG. However, the Portuguese chief has not agreed to a new deal with the Ligue 1 giants.

On social media, Chelsea fans really want Campos and have been vocal in their desire to bring someone in who has serious experience at the top of the game.

It looks as if the Blues are preparing to make steps to appease supporters as they have held two meetings with the 60-year-old.

Duncan Castles claimed on the ‘Transfer’s Podcast’ that he is open to the idea of joining, although has a number of options for his next step in the game.

He said: “An approach by Chelsea, and the Clearlake capital group, who would like him to come in as Head of Football, not simply at Chelsea but for the entire multi-club group.

“I’m told there have been two meetings, the most recent of which took place in Monaco, to assess whether he would be interested in coming to them, advising them on the entire football strategy, helping them recruit more intelligently than they have done so far.

“In many ways you can see the attraction because what Campos has specialized in in his career is identifying young talents, and bringing them to clubs and placing them in environments where they develop into some of the best players in the game, or developing them to be traded for high values, and that’s exactly what the Chelsea model is, but not really what they’ve been able to implement so far.

“I’m told Campos is open to that idea. He’s interested in what’s being happening in European football. That is one option for Campos.”

Campos established himself as an elite figure in the game during his time at Monaco, attracting a number of top talents who the Ligue 1 side could develop.

This included the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Bernardo Silva, who have gone on to be seen as some of the best players in the world.

Campos has been described as a ‘football expert’ according to TransferMarkt, and would bring European knowledge to a board who have been heavily criticised of late by Chelsea fans.
