The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) members of the Ada East District Assembly are adhering to directives from the leadership of the association, to embark on a nationwide strike from Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The Staff, who are members of CLOGSAG have since boycotted activities of the Assembly.

CLOGSAG declared a strike action to back their call against the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.

Though the Local Government Service Workers’ Union (LGSWU) has announced its decision not to take part in the strike action, the Ada East District Assembly is currently left with a lean staff when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the facility throughout the week.

Jerrison Ayih, the District Coordinating Director, although was in his office, declined to speak with the Ghana News Agency on the development, explaining that he had no information on the reason for the strike.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment has urged CLOGSAG to call off the strike ahead of a planned meeting with them on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
