President John Dramani Mahama has stated that his government resolved Ghana’s power crisis before leaving office in 2016.
According to him, his administration ensured that the lights remained on before handing over power to the previous government.
Delivering his first State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2025, he said, “Yesterday, February 26, marked exactly 10 years since I stood in this House and promised to fix dumsor and I fixed it.”
The president, however, pledged his commitment to Ghanaians to fix the economy.
“I want to boldly declare that I, John Dramani Mahama, will fix the economic challenges confronting our country,” he said.
President Mahama’s address, in line with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, is expected to outline his ambitious “Resetting Ghana” agenda, aimed at tackling economic challenges, creating jobs, and restoring stability.
In his speech, the president is expected to touch on key areas of his government’s policy objectives.
He will also provide updates on the state of Ghana’s economy, including the ongoing IMF bailout program, security, and the cost of living, among other issues.
Additionally, he will update Ghanaians on the government’s deliverables for the year ahead, as well as its achievements so far and the challenges that lie ahead.
