Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), the National Organizer of the NPP, has strongly denounced the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for calling Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe (Abronye) to investigate GH¢550 million allotted for newly hired employees during the Mahama administration.
In a statement that was seen on his Facebook page, Nana B questioned the NIB’s selective attitude, pointing out that when members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) made false accusations and assaults on former President Akufo-Addo, nothing was done about it.
He pointed out that the NIB did nothing when NDC leaders charged the former president of corruption, but now Abronye is being singled out for rightfully challenging government spending.
“If no one was summoned or arrested for making false accusations against Akufo-Addo, why is Chairman Abronye being invited just for raising valid concerns?” Nana B said.
Alleging that President Mahama and his supporters are using the NIB to target former NPP appointments, the NPP National Organizer also voiced his displeasure with the timing of the action.
He said the party led by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong will accompany Abronye to the NIB, warning that the NPP would not back down but will stand by their party leader.
He also cited multiple unfounded allegations of corruption against Akufo-Addo, which he said the NIB disregarded.
Nana B enumerated a number of charges made by prominent NDC leaders, like as calls from Sammy Gyamfi and Asiedu Nketia, who described the Akufo-Addo administration as being extremely corrupt.
The NPP has pledged to continue opposing anything it believes to be politically driven actions by the NIB under the current government.
