Ghanaian international Daniel Amartey has once again demonstrated his deep connection to his roots, making a surprise visit to his boyhood club, Zinaps FC, in Teshie. The former Leicester City defender, currently without a club, returned to the very ground where his football journey began, sparking an emotional and nostalgic moment for fans and players alike.

According to YEN, Dressed in a casual brown round-neck shirt and oversized trousers, with dark shades completing his look, Amartey arrived at the Teshie Camp Two Park to watch a Greater Accra Division Three League match. His presence alone electrified the atmosphere, as young talents looked on in awe at the player who had once walked the same path they now tread.

Amartey’s visit was more than just a sentimental trip down memory lane. After watching the game, the Black Stars defender presented a generous but undisclosed amount of cash to his former club. In addition, he gifted the team a collection of boots and jerseys, ensuring that the young players have the resources needed to chase their football dreams.

His kindness did not end there. In a remarkable show of sportsmanship, Amartey also extended his generosity to the opposing team, providing them with training equipment and words of encouragement. “Keep working hard, your time will come,” he was heard telling the young players.

A particularly touching moment came when Amartey reunited with his former coach, Pappy, the man who played a crucial role in his early career. Standing side by side in deep conversation, the duo reminisced about the past, reflecting on Amartey’s journey from grassroots football to the global stage. Pappy, dressed in a white Lacoste shirt, black shorts, and sea-blue sneakers, beamed with pride as they shared heartfelt words.

Following his departure from Turkish side Beşiktaş, Amartey remains a free agent. His last competitive game came in March 2024, playing 45 minutes in Beşiktaş’s 2-1 loss to Antalyaspor. Despite strong links to Scottish champions Celtic last summer, a deal failed to materialize. However, with his experience and defensive prowess, Amartey remains an attractive option for clubs in need of reinforcements.

While his future remains uncertain, one thing is clear—his heart will always be in Teshie. His latest act of generosity serves as a reminder that no matter how far he goes, he will never forget where it all started.
