Omari Wadie is a former National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party
A former National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Omari Wadie, has commended former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his significant achievements during his tenure.
According to him, the strides and positive impacts made by the former president are unprecedented and, in his view, cannot be compared to any past government.
Omari Wadie highlighted and praised Akufo-Addo’s policies, specifically mentioning the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program, road infrastructure, and other key initiatives, which he believes are significant milestones in the country’s development.
“Akufo-Addo has done a lot for Ghanaians and for this country. If we look at the roads he built, hospitals, school infrastructure, the Free SHS, 1D1F. When you go to various campuses, the infrastructure he put up, I can tell you that nobody can compare,” he said during a panel discussion on GH One TV on Monday, February 24, 2025.
The former party executive acknowledged the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges that affected the previous government and the economy.
However, he emphasised that despite these setbacks, Akufo-Addo ensured significant progress for the country.
He further stated that the challenges encountered could not overshadow the achievements of the past government.
“That notwithstanding, with the strike of COVID, Russia-Ukraine, and the snap we had in our economy, they are stains which when you look at, no one can still compare to what he did and it can’t be denied,” he said.
