The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has found himself in trouble following allegations he made against President John Dramani Mahama.

The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has summoned Abronye over claims he made on Kumasi-based Movement TV.

GhanaWeb has now obtained a video of the interview referenced in the NIB’s invitation letter.

As stated in the bureau’s letter, Abronye is heard in the interview alleging that Mahama is hoarding GH¢550 million at the Jubilee House in a bullion van.

He even insinuated that President Mahama stole the money, which was originally meant for the payment of individuals whose appointments had been revoked.

“The truth is that former president and now president, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama… the first crime he has committed against Ghanaians is the revocation of appointments. They have stolen a lot of money from Ghanaians through this action.

“This is thievery, if you don’t know… it is money they have stolen, not just about the revocation of appointments,” he claimed.

The NPP regional chairman alleged that the money was approved by the previous government, led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to pay newly recruited public sector workers, including 15,000 nurses and 15,000 teachers.

He insisted that the Akufo-Addo administration had made provisions in the 2025 budget for all the individuals whose appointments are now being revoked under the Mahama government.

“This time around, financial clearance is given before any appointment is made. So, as soon as you receive an appointment letter and start work, your salary would be ready the next month.

“Mahama is now saying that 15,000 nurses are not Ghanaians, that Akufo-Addo brought them from Burkina Faso, some from Libya, Benin, and Ivory Coast… Yet, they all had financial clearance. The appointment of over 15,000 teachers who had also completed their service has also been revoked.

“Did you know that the finance minister, in the 2024 budget, made provisions for this recruitment? Now that you have revoked their appointments, what happens to the money that was allocated in the budget? The Akufo-Addo government budgeted GH¢550 million for these individuals to be employed. This money comes from taxpayers, yet another government cancels the appointments and allegedly transfers the funds to the Jubilee House. So, what are you doing with the GH¢550 million that was put in bullion vans and sent to the Jubilee House?” he questioned.

Abronye also alleged that the president traveled with an entourage of over 26 members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on his recent trip to Germany, claiming that each of them was paid a $5,000 per diem.

“When this president was going to Germany, someone who claims to be cutting down expenditure, he took a delegation of 26 NDC members, and each of them was given a $5,000 per diem. Multiply $5,000 by 26.

“You have revoked people’s appointments, taken their GH¢550 million, and put it in a bullion van. Meanwhile, he (Mahama) and Okudzeto Ablakwa travel every week. They haven’t been in this country for more than three days,” he claimed.
