Head coach of the Black Queens, Kim Lars Björkegren has commended the performance of his girls despite their defeat to Morocco but feels they were just unlucky to have earned a draw in the game.
The Swedish tactician was appointed few weeks ago and was handed his first task yesterday but unfortunately Ghana lost narrowly to the Atlas Lioness, thanks to a late Sakina Ouzraoui Diki goal.
The game was a perfect test for the Black Queens to warm themselves up and also test their strength ahead of the upcoming WAFCON having stayed off action for sometime now.
Speaking in a post-match interview, the 43-year-old lauded the overall performance of his players and added he is very proud but was not really pleased as he believes they delivered a great performance throughout the game and at least deserved a draw.
“This is the worst feeling to have as a coach and as a player. When you work hard for almost a whole game you deserve a draw result. You have the chances to actually win and then you are unlucky in the end, the ball bouncing and they score when there is nothing left.
“I’m really proud of the girls. They worked hard. There haven’t been so many trainings together. The focus has been to work as a group and be well-organised in defense. They did an amazing job. I’m happy with the girls,” coach Kim Lars Björkegren told the media team of the GFA.
The Black Queens are expected to return to Accra from Casablanca, by the close of today.
