A young Ghanaian musician, Obofour, has revealed why he left his music career to become a full-time taxi driver. In an interview with a content creator, Obofour shared his struggles in the music industry.
Obofour, a rapper who had collaborated with several top names in the Ghanaian music scene, including Shatta Wale, Castro, Bisa Kdei, and Ruff & Smooth, opened up about his journey. Despite working with these well-known artists, he faced ongoing financial struggles, unable to make a sustainable income from his music.
“I’ve worked with everyone in the industry. Shatta Wale is like a father to me. I met him through someone in a studio, and later, I got closer to him by washing his car,” Obofour shared. He emphasized the difficulty of making ends meet despite his connections with industry giants.
Obofour’s decision to leave the microphone behind was driven by his need for a stable income. Although he now drives a taxi, he hasn’t ruled out a return to music in the future, once his financial situation improves.
Despite their challenges, both musicians have expressed a desire to return to their craft, showing that even when life takes unexpected turns, their passion for music remains alive.
