Renowned media personality Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah paid a courtesy visit to the overlord of the Ga-Dangbe State, Nuumo Gborbu Wulomo, on February 21, 2025.

The meeting, held at the revered leader’s palace, was marked by moments of reflection, reconciliation, and a reaffirmation of cultural values.

The purpose of Okatakyie’s visit was to seek the blessings and wise counsel of the esteemed spiritual leader while also offering a formal apology for an unfortunate incident that occurred a few months ago.

This gesture reinforced his commitment to unity and reconciliation.

“We will continue to teach generations about our customs and traditions. Many people have been misled about certain cultural practices and hold negative perceptions, but we will keep educating them.

“I also want to take this opportunity to apologize for the past incident,” he stated.

During the engagement, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah emphasized his dedication to upholding and safeguarding Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

He reassured the Ga-Dangbe community of his unwavering support in preserving their customs and traditions, as enshrined in the national constitution.

In response, Nuumo Gborbu Wulomo warmly welcomed Okatakyie and bestowed his blessings upon him.

The revered overlord highlighted the importance of unity in diversity, calling on all Ghanaians to embrace peace, respect, and cultural appreciation in nation-building.

It may be recalled that the Ga Traditional Council, on April 12, 2024, extended an invitation to the journalist to appear before the Traditional Council.

The invitation followed Afrifa-Mensah’s alleged disparaging comments against Nuumo Gborbu Wulomo-Shitse, the Overlord of the Ga-Dangbe State, and King Odaifio Welentsi III, the Paramount Chief of the Nungua Traditional Area.

The comments were allegedly made during a radio program on Angel FM.

At the time, the journalist publicly apologized for his remarks.
