Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC made the allegations on Wontumi TV
The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has recounted how former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, allegedly blocked him and the late Central Regional Chairman of the ruling NPP, Robert Kutin Jr., also known as Chairman Kutin, from securing a government contract.
According to Abronye, the contract in question was awarded to them by the NPP’s 2024 running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO. However, Ofori-Atta informed them that they could not proceed with it.
Abronye further alleged that the same contract, which Ofori-Atta denied them, was instead awarded to the son of Asante Bediatuo, the then Secretary to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He claimed that Ofori-Atta signed a commencement letter in favor of Bediatuo’s son on the same day he refused to approve their contract.
Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV on February 20, 2025, Abronye emphasized that he never held any contract under President Akufo-Addo’s government that could warrant an investigation into his financial dealings.
“For the eight years of Akufo-Addo’s government, no minister under the NPP administration gave me any work or contract. It was only NAPO who gave me a contract, along with Chairman Kutin. When we went to Ken Ofori-Atta’s office, he said he would not authorize it.
“NAPO gave us the contract to help us survive, but Ken Ofori-Atta refused to allow us to have it. He told us to our faces that he would not approve it. Yet, on the same day, he signed a commencement letter for Bediatuo’s son,” he claimed.
