Edem Agbana is the Member of Parliament of Ketu North
The Member of Parliament of Ketu North, Edem Agbana, has called for a non-partisan approach by parliamentarians in addressing the issues facing their constituents and the country as a whole.
Speaking exclusively with GhanaWeb’s George Ayisi, the first-time lawmaker expressed his belief that the interests of citizens should be prioritised above partisan interests, emphasising that this is the primary reason for their election into the house.
He stated that upon taking his oath of office, he committed to representing every individual in his constituency, prioritising their needs over any partisan actions that would not be in their best interest.
He added that lawmakers are elected to represent their constituents, regardless of their party affiliations, and urged them to advocate for reforms that address the issues facing citizens and meet their needs.
“We must always place Ghana first. I am here representing Ketu North on the ticket of the NDC but the very moment I took the oath of office as a member of parliament; I am representing every single person in Ketu North. Whether NDC, NPP, CPP, or APC regardless of their political parties and religious beliefs, I represent the aspirations of the people.
“My hope moving forward is that we will be less partisan in our deliberations and focus more on project Ghana. Issues that affect the people and issues we can voice out which truly represent the needs of the people,” he said.
