National Youth Organiser of NPP, Salam Mustapha
The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has publicly admitted the party’s shortcomings in governance, acknowledging the discontentment among key stakeholders, including business leaders, unemployed youth, and journalists.
Mustapha admitted that several mistakes had been made, which led to frustration among business owners, some of whom had previously been strong financial backers of the NPP.
“I admit we’ve made many mistakes. Businessmen were angry with us, some of whom were our friends and financiers. You approach some, and they will say they will never fund NPP politics again. We are sorry; we have heard them,” he stated during an interview on Peace FM on February 10, 2025.
His remarks also addressed concerns from the country’s youth, many of whom had been hopeful for job opportunities under the party’s administration.
Mustapha further acknowledged their disappointment, offering an apology while pledging to improve.
“A lot of youth didn’t get jobs. We are sorry, we have heard them,” recognising the party’s failure to meet employment expectations.
He further admitted to the unfair treatment of journalists, particularly those who had openly supported the NPP.
“Journalists who openly declared their affiliation to the NPP, the way we treated them, many are not happy. We will do better,” he assured.
