Entertainment pundit, Bullgod
Entertainment pundit and artiste manager, Bullgod, has advised musicians to focus on developing their own promotional strategies instead of relying on collaborations with other artistes.
His comments come in the wake of a public dispute between budding musician Ama Nova and Fameye.
Ama Nova recently revealed in an interview that she had paid Fameye to feature in her music video and promote their collaborative song, ‘Odo Different.’
She said Fameye allegedly failed to fulfil his part of the agreement, leaving her frustrated.
But speaking on this development, Bullgod has emphasised the importance of self-reliance in the music industry.
In a discussion on Hitz FM, he has urged artistes not to depend on anyone for their success.
“Once you go and do your song, find your promotional strategy. Don’t depend on anybody. Once you do that, you’re crippled. There will be no ideal time for the next artiste to help you promote yours,” he stated.
He also encouraged Ama Nova and her team to take more proactive steps, rather than waiting for Fameye.
“Whether Fameye was dropping his project ‘Very Soon’ late last year or in the next two years, they should have been able to drop their content side by side and not depend on him to push their stuff. It’s even good for them when Fameye drops and they drop. There’ll be a lot of traction around him online. They don’t necessarily have to wait for him,” he added.
Bullgod also emphasised that Fameye and his team should honour their commitment to Ama Nova.
“If they’ve agreed to shoot a video, Fameye and his team must do the needful. They have to make themselves available to shoot the video so that they can wash their hands off the contract,” he stated.
