President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to combating and eradicating corrupt practices among government officials and politically exposed persons in the country.

Addressing the press after receiving the report from the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee on Monday, February 10, 2025, Mahama stated that the days when corrupt officials could escape accountability for their offenses are long over.

He added that the country is no longer a place that tolerates criminality.

“To those who think they can defraud the state and escape justice, let this serve as a strong warning. Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption,” he said.

President Mahama disclosed that the cases reported so far by the ORAL committee will prompt immediate investigations by the Attorney General.

He further stated that individuals found guilty of any wrongdoing in the report will be held fully accountable and made to face the full extent of the law.

“I have promptly handed over the report to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice and I give him firm instructions to commence immediate investigations into the cases reported in here with the view to prosecuting anyone found liable of corruption or related offenses,” he warned.

The statesman described the ORAL committee’s initiative and the progress made as a defining moment in the country’s fight against corruption, noting that it aligns with the National Democratic Congress’s agenda for national reform and resetting.

“This is a defining moment in our fight against corruption and we must all play our parts. Citizens, media, civil societies, and public officials alike, and together we will build a Ghana that is just, transparent, and prosperous for generations to come,” he added.

The ORAL committee has submitted its report to President Mahama containing 2,417 complaints of suspected corruption.
