Study the environment before taking any action as foreign affairs minister

Former Foreign Affairs Minister Hanna Tetteh has urged the newly appointed Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to thoroughly understand the environment before making decisions.

In an interview on 3FM on Friday, February 7, monitored by GhanaWeb, Tetteh who currently serves as the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), emphasized the importance of careful assessment before taking action.

“Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has to study the environment before taking action as Foreign Affairs Minister,” she said.

The former NDC Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya West Constituency added that serving as an ambassador involves a significant amount of work.

“Being an ambassador is not a holiday post but a responsibility to promote mutual relationships and represent your country,” she stated.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Member of Parliament for North Tongu, previously served as the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs in the 8th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

He also served as Deputy Minister for Information at the age of 28 under the presidency of the late John Atta Mills.

Additionally, he was a member of the Government’s Transition Team, serving as Acting Secretary. Ablakwa later served as Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Tertiary Education under then-Minister of Education Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in the John Dramani Mahama government.
