According to Citi News, Nana Akua Afriyie, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for the Ablekuma North parliamentary seat, has categorically dismissed the idea of a rerun of the election in the constituency.
She emphasized that all required documentation is in order, rejecting requests for a rerun stemming from disputes regarding the results collation.
On January 4, 2025, a High Court ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete the collation of results and announce winners for four outstanding parliamentary elections.
While results have been declared for three constituencies, the situation in Ablekuma North remains unresolved.
Collation efforts resumed on January 8, 2025, but were halted due to incomplete results from three polling stations.
The EC had planned to continue the process on January 17, 2025, at 8:00 AM. However, the Ghana Police Service recommended a delay based on security assessments.
On January 17, the EC stated that the police had not provided adequate security at the collation center, which resulted in an influx of party supporters and led to the suspension of the process.
