“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. That’s a phrase that could be applied to Liverpool FC under the stewardship of Arne Slot.
He’s done an impressive job filling the shoes left by Jurgen Klopp last summer. Few would have predicted Liverpool leading the Premier League in February during Slot’s first season.
Regardless of whether Liverpool clinchs the title, expect some changes in the summer as Slot fine-tunes his inherited squad. Mirror Football speculates on how the team might look next year…
Alisson is arguably the top goalkeeper in the Premier League, but Liverpool have already signed Giorgi Mamardashvili for the 2025-26 season. The Georgian international will compete with Alisson for the starting spot. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future has been questioned, but we’re predicting he’ll stay, with contract talks ongoing.
At left-back, expect changes. Milos Kerkez is rumored to be a target and could be an exciting successor to stalwart Andy Robertson. In the heart of defense, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are expected to continue their partnership, provided Van Dijk signs a new contract.
Liverpool had considered a move for Martin Zubimendi last summer, but with Ryan Gravenberch excelling in that role this year, we’re leaving the midfield as is. This leaves Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai battling for positions ahead of Gravenberch.

Up front, Mohamed Salah’s form is unquestionable and Cody Gakpo has proven his worth on the left wing since signing last January. Darwin Nunez has had a challenging season, so don’t be surprised if Liverpool look for a new striker. The Reds have found success shopping at RB Leipzig, bringing in both Konate and Szoboszlai.
Benjamin Sesko has other Premier League suitors, but he could thrive in a Liverpool side that creates numerous opportunities under Slot. Apologies to Arsenal fans, but Anfield might be hard to resist for any player right now, so the Slovenian star could be the long-term leading man.
