Former Minister of Finance, Dr. Amin Adam, has assured the people of Ghana to hold the current government accountable for how they manage the country’s finances.

According to him, he will do that forcefully without any regret.

Dr. Amin Adam believes that Ghana needs a strong opposition to ensure the government does not toy with the lives of the people and the gains the previous government left behind.

The former Finance Minister was speaking to Accra-based Joy News when he made this known.

To him, the current Minister of Finance was a pain in his neck, but he believes that it was important that he had someone like that because he ensured that the government was accountable to the people of Ghana.

“Ato is my good friend. We worked together; we had a good relationship. He was my ranking member on the finance committee, and being a ranking member, he was a very important stakeholder even when I assumed office as a finance minister; he was the minority leader, and trust Ato, Ato would also debate on the economy,” he said.

When asked if he would be a pain in the neck for the current government as a form of retaliation, he said such persons who keep the government on track are imperative, and just as Ato Forson PhD kept him on his toes, he promises to do the same to ensure that the people of Ghana are not toyed with.

“No, I promise to do the best I can to hold him accountable and to hold the entire government accountable for their management of our public finances and management of the economy and I will do that forcefully without any regret. Ghana needs a strong opposition to ensure that the government does not toy with our lives, to ensure the government keeps track, particularly of the gains we have handed over to them,” he said.
