Government to reassess TOR operations with focus on local participation

The government plans to reassess the operations of the Tema Oil Refinery, with a strong emphasis on Ghanaian participation and local content.

Minister of Energy, John Jinapor made this known when he engaged stakeholders to empower indigenous businesses in the refinery’s restructuring and investment efforts.

Explaining the purpose of the meeting, he stated that the government aims to create opportunities for local entrepreneurs to play a leading role in the refinery’s transformation.

“Our refinery is a key part of our vision. If we can get Ghanaian entrepreneurs to lead the process, it will greatly benefit us.

“We will reassess the operations of the Tema Oil Refinery. However, in line with our local content policy, we will prioritize captains of industry in Ghana. Where there are capacity gaps, I am confident that you can source the necessary expertise to complement your efforts,”* the minister said during a meeting with industry leaders,” he stated.
