The Patriotic Muslim Front (PMF) has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the government and the interim Hajj taskforce for reducing the Hajj fare for 2025.

This move, they say, is a significant relief for many pilgrims who were struggling to afford the high costs associated with the sacred journey.

According to them, the reduction of the fare is a significant step towards fulfilling the government’s promise to make the pilgrimage more affordable and accessible to Muslims in Ghana.

In a press statement shared by the group, they said, “The Patriotic Muslim Front (PMF) wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama and the interim Hajj Task Force for the timely announcement of the 2025 Hajj fare. The reduction of the fare from GH¢75,000 to GH¢62,000 is a significant step towards fulfilling the government’s promise to make the pilgrimage more affordable and accessible to Ghanaian Muslims.

“This development is a testament to the government’s commitment to the welfare of the Muslim community and its dedication to upholding the social contract it entered with the people of Ghana.”

The statement added that the government’s decision is a step in the right direction, demonstrating its commitment to addressing Muslim concerns and removing financial barriers to attending Hajj.

“This particular step demonstrates the government’s responsiveness to the concerns of the Muslim Ummah and its determination to address the financial barriers that have historically hindered many Ghanaian Muslims from fulfilling their religious obligations,” it added.

The Patriotic Muslim Front (PMF) wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama and the interim Hajj Task Force for the timely announcement of the 2025 Hajj fare. The reduction of the fare from GHC75,000 to GHC62,000 is a significant step towards fulfilling the government’s promise to make the pilgrimage more affordable and accessible to Ghanaian Muslims. This development is a testament to the government’s commitment to the welfare of the Muslim community and its dedication to upholding the social contract it entered with the people of Ghana.

This particular step demonstrates the government’s responsiveness to the concerns of the Muslim Ummah and its determination to address the financial barriers that have historically hindered many Ghanaian Muslims from fulfilling their religious obligations.

While we celebrate this milestone, the PMF wishes to remind the interim Hajj Task Force of its core mandate, which is to promote the welfare of Ghanaian pilgrims at all stages and ensure a smooth and successful Hajj pilgrimage. We urge the Task Force to remain focused on this objective and to avoid overstepping its boundaries by delving into matters that fall under the purview of other state agencies.

Specifically, we caution against any direct involvement in investigations related to the accumulation of the Hajj debt. Such matters should be left to the appropriate and independent investigative bodies to ensure impartiality and promote accountability.

The PMF reiterates its call for transparency and accountability in all matters related to the Hajj pilgrimage. We urge the government to ensure that anyone found culpable of foul play in the mismanagement of Hajj funds is made to face the full rigours of the law. This will not only serve as a deterrent to future misconduct but also restore the confidence of the Muslim community in the Hajj administration.

In conclusion, the PPMF reiterates its commendation to the government for keeping its promise to the Muslim Ummah in Ghana. We remain committed to advocating for the rights and interests of Ghanaian Muslims and will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure that the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage is successful, affordable, and transparent. We call on all stakeholders to work together in the spirit of unity and cooperation to achieve this goal.

May Allah (SWT) bless the efforts of all those involved in organizing the Hajj pilgrimage and grant Ghanaian Muslims the opportunity to fulfil their religious obligations with ease and dignity.
