The Member of Parliament of Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has issued a one-week ultimatum to the Electoral Commission (EC) to declare the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Akua Afriyieh, as the winner of the December 7 parliamentary elections.

In a video shared by Citi FM on their Facebook page on Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Minority Chief Whip asserted that Akua Afriyieh was the winner of the election.

The Minority Chief Whip insisted that the EC must declare Akua Afriyieh the winner, while dismissing calls for a re-run of the election.

“If they (NDC) are not reasonable enough to know that, based on the collated results, we have won the Ablekuma North parliamentary election, the NDC MPs will not know peace in Parliament. We will continue to demonstrate. So, if they do not allow the EC to re-collate, they will not know peace. We are giving the EC one week to declare the results. Why did the NDC burn the pink sheets? Ablekuma North is for the NPP. We are winning,” he noted.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high in the constituency, as both NPP’s Akua Afriyieh and NDC’s Ewurabena Aubyn have erected billboards declaring victory, despite the EC not yet announcing the final results.

The re-collation process has been delayed due to frequent disputes and chaos, leading to rising tensions and uncertainty.

Ablekuma North remains the only constituency from the December 7 election without a declared winner.
