Iheanacho targets Premier League promotion on ‘home’ return

Share

Kelechi Iheanacho has said he is delighted to return ‘home’ to England on loan from La Liga club Sevilla and now looks forward to helping Middlesbrough win promotion back to the Premier League.

Iheanacho said he has been warmly received at Middlesbrough and the target is to ensure their return to the top flight in England.

“Obviously, there are good coaches here and a good team. I’ve played against the club a good few times so I know it’s a really good club. I spoke to the manager and he was a really nice guy,” he said.

“We discussed everything from training to games and how he wants the club to move forward. It was clear that the goal is to get to the Premier League, which was good. I can’t wait to get started.”

Middlesbrough are sixth in the standings with 44 points from 30 matches, just outside the promotion playoff bracket on goals difference.
