Assin North residents call on President Mahama for ministerial position

The Network for Assin Development has called on President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership to acknowledge the constituency’s importance and grant Assin North in the Central region a ministerial slot.

According to the group, over the years, Assin land has been a significant contributor to Ghana’s development, offering valuable natural resources and human capital. Despite these contributions, the district has often been overlooked in key appointments and allocations.

In a press statement, the group argued that this appointment would serve as a well-deserved recognition of Assin’s role in national progress and a crucial step toward ensuring the region’s continued development.

“Assin has immense potential for growth, and it is time for the government to demonstrate its commitment to the region’s progress. A ministerial appointment would provide Assin with a stronger voice in government, allowing the region to advocate more effectively for its needs and interests,” part of the press statement said.

The statement continued, “We urge President Mahama and the NDC to fulfill their promise to the people of Assin North, made during the by-elections, to retain their MP and offer a ministerial appointment. This step would be instrumental in fostering Assin’s development and growth.

“The Network for Assin Development remains committed to advocating for the interests of Assin and ensuring that their voices are heard. We will continue to monitor the situation and push for the recognition and development that Assin rightfully deserves.”
