The Asante Professionals Club (APC), a diaspora organization with members in the UK and USA, has pledged its full support to Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Minister. The pledge was made following Dr. Amoakohene’s swearing-in, with the APC citing his expertise and vision as crucial for driving the region’s development.

APC UK President, Stephen Onyinah Karikari, issued a statement assuring Dr. Amoakohene of the unwavering backing of professionals from the UK, Europe, and the United States. Karikari stated that the club is ready to mobilize the diaspora community to collaborate with the minister on promoting sustainable regional and national development.

The APC highlighted the significant economic potential of Kumasi, the Ashanti Region’s capital, projecting it to become a major economic hub in Africa. Citing projections by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), they noted that Kumasi’s economy could be the 16th largest on the continent by 2035, driven by population growth and strong GDP forecasts.

“Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, is on the verge of becoming a major economic hub in Africa,” Karikari stated.

The APC also emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships, including the Great Asante Sister-City Partnership, aimed at fostering collaboration between towns in the Ashanti Region and their counterparts in Europe and the United States. They believe these partnerships will drive Kumasi’s growth through knowledge exchange, investment attraction, and infrastructural development.

The APC identified several key sectors for collaboration, including finance, trade, agribusiness, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. They also expressed a commitment to restoring Kumasi’s status as the “Garden City of West Africa” by promoting sustainable urban planning and green infrastructure.

APC USA President, Lady Barbara Acheampong, emphasized the importance of education, stating the organization will strengthen partnerships with institutions like KNUST and Kumasi Technical University to support human capital development. Revitalizing strategic initiatives like the Asante Cocoa Project to enhance the cocoa sector was also highlighted as a key focus.

Dr. Dominic Oduro-Donkor, President of the Ghana Dentist Association UK and Vice President of APC UK, voiced his strong support for Dr. Amoakohene, praising his leadership, integrity, and dedication to service, and noting he would be vital to uniting the region.

He highlighted the importance of inclusive development.
