The traditional leaders of Anlo Dukor Council have petitioned the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, requesting the identification of the MP who made derogatory and unsavory comments about the legislator of Klottey Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, on the floor of Parliament.

In a letter addressed to the Speaker dated February 5, 2025, and signed by the Awadada of Anlo Dukor, Togbi Agbesi Awsu III, the council expressed their outrage over the incident.

They stated that the identification of the ‘suspect’ would determine their next course of action, requesting that the matter be addressed before February 10, 2025.

“The Overlord of Anlo Dukor, Togbi Sri III, and the Chiefs and people of the Anlo Dukor are furious about the unfortunate development in the august house and are desirous of identifying the Member of Parliament who made the disparaging remarks against the son of Anloland to help us advise ourselves as to the next step to take.

“The Anlo Dukor will be grateful if our request is granted and the said individual is identified on or before 10th of February, 2025,” it said.

The statement added that their intelligence, which initially pointed to two ‘suspects,’ yielded no results, further fueling their efforts to identify the lawmaker responsible.

“Our information pointed earlier to Hon. Abu Jinapor, a Member of Parliament of Damongo Constituency in the Savanna Region, and one Hon. Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei, MP of Bosome Freho. Both have denied being the authors of the alleged obscene and defamatory words,” it added.

The Anlo Dukor Council’s petition follows parliamentary proceedings on February 4, 2025, when a voice from the Minority side was heard making a deeply derogatory remark towards Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, referring to her as the “daughter of a murderer” and ordering her to sit down when she stood up to request permission to make her submission on the floor during discussions on the 60th anniversary of the death of Joseph Boakye Danquah.

Another unknown MP believed to be on the Minority side followed up, claiming, “But there is evidence that her father killed people.”

The incident has received widespread condemnation from the general public.
