A photo of Chairman Wontumi, the Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, chilling in Croydon, South London, has sparked social media outrage.
Wontumi, wearing a winter coat, is spotted in a good mood as he tours the UK to relax following a gruelling campaign season.
The opposition NPP, then the ruling party, vowed to ‘break the 8’ in the 2024 elections, with Wontumi in particular promising that their candidate, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, was going to be the next President of Ghana.
However, the NPP lost the elections and since then, multiple former officials have been spotted outside the country.
Ghanaians were not too pleased to find out Wontumi had left the country for a vacation and slammed him for being part of a party that destroyed the Ghanaian economy.
“Kwas*a you destroy your own land and steal from your own people and you go outside there to spend the money,” one angry netizen wrote.
Another said: “I pray they deport him ……… after spoiling our economy they run to oyibo land to enjoy !!🤦🏾♂️”
