Muslims across Ghana can breathe a huge sigh of relief as the Interim Hajj Taskforce has announced a reduction in Hajj fares from GH¢75,000 to GH¢62,000, equivalent to $4,130 at an exchange rate of GH¢15 to a dollar.

A few days ago, the Concerned Muslims Association of Ghana expressed concerns over the government’s delay in announcing the 2025 Hajj fees.

In a statement, the group emphasised the limited time available to undertake the pilgrimage, noting that Hajj is only a few months away and that prospective pilgrims need ample time to prepare.

The group also called on the Interim Hajj Taskforce, which was set up by President Mahama and recently returned from a conference in Saudi Arabia.

The taskforce has officially registered Ghana for Hajj 2025 and engaged service providers to facilitate Hajj services for Ghanaian pilgrims.

“We are calling on the government to urgently announce the Hajj fee. We also want to remind President Mahama and the NDC of their political promise to the Zongo community and Muslims to drastically reduce the Hajj fare, as announced by President Mahama,” the group stated.
