Patrick Dorgu says he can’t wait to play with two Man Utd stars, he’ll transform one of them

Patrick Dorgu was one of two Manchester United signings in the January transfer window.

The Danish full-back arrived from Lecce for a fee of around £30m, which all things considered, was great business by Manchester United.

Dorgu was a necessity for the Red Devils. Left-back has been a problem child even since Erik ten Hag, with Luke Shaw’s questionable fitness, and Tyrell Malacia’s unreliableness.

Its importance has been particularly highlighted under Ruben Amorim, with the wing-backs integral to his system. Dorgu should be a big boost for United.

Not only will Dorgu’s individual brilliance shine through, but he should also help existing Manchester United players. One of which – he can’t wait to share the Old Trafford pitch with.

Patrick Dorgu on Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen

Naturally, players gravitate initially to their fellow countrymen, and this is no different with Dorgu.

In his first-ever interview as a Manchester United man, Dorgu singled out the Danish pair Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen, stating that he is ‘looking forward’ to playing with them for the Red Devils.

Dorgu begins: “I’m looking forward to playing with them [Hojlund and Eriksen] I already played with them with the national team, so it’s going to be good to play with them here as well.”

The young full-back only has four Denmark caps to his name, but has shared the pitch with both Manchester United stars. Something he’ll be doing a lot more now that Dorgu has signed for United.

In particular, he’ll be of use to Hojlund, who hasn’t cracked the code yet this season.

Dorgu will greatly benefit Hojlund

Dorgu is exactly what United need on the wing, a pacey, direct and exciting bombing full-back.

Amorim’s big problem at Manchester United has to be goalscoring, and a lot of that comes down to strikers starved of service.

Hojlund has not been himself, and Dorgu could help be one of the pieces in the jigsaw to try and bring the 23-year-old back to his goalscoring ways, as we saw numerous times last season.

At the moment, he’s lightyears away.

Dorgu could make his Manchester United debut against Leicester in the FA Cup, where United supporters will get a first glimpse into how the youngster will operate in red.
