Deadline day for what has been a very quiet winter transfer window for Liverpool is here and there are still some deals the Reds can agree before the market slams shut.

Fans on Merseyside have endured a month of next to no activity to start 2025 with Liverpool preferring to keep their powder try in the transfer market. Much of the gossip coming out of Anfield has instead been debating possible departures, despite the Reds’ pursuit of trophies.

Dutchman Arne Slot has enjoyed a terrific start to his tenure as the head coach of Liverpool. The Reds top not only the Premier League table but even got the top spot in the Champions League league phase standings. FA Cup and Carabao Cup glory might also be on the cards.

Yet Liverpool fans have faced frequent speculation regarding Real Madrid’s interest in a free transfer for Trent Alexander-Arnold plus the Saudi Pro League’s pursuit of Mohamed Salah’s transfer. Both are still currently set to see their contracts expire at the end of this campaign.

Their futures have thus continually dominated transfer gossip columns while talk of possible incomings at Anfield has been minimal as Slot is happy with Liverpool’s first-team squad. Yet some Liverpool transfers remain on the cards on deadline day for the winter 2025 window…

Yet given Lyon are open to selling Cherki for just £18.5m before the winter 2025 window has slammed shut, Liverpool could target a deadline day deal to beat their rivals to the punch. It could add a creative weapon to Slot’s ranks with Cherki boasting five goals and nine assists.
