We Didn’t Care About Winning; Our Focus Was To Send NPP to Opposition- Movement for Change Member

A member of the Movement for Change has opened up that the party’s primary agenda in the 2024 elections was to ensure the defeat of the New Patriotic Party(NPP ) and send them into opposition. Speaking in an interview on Original TV’s Nsem Titiriw show with Samuel Huntor, he claimed that he is 99.9% supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the Movement for Change was a political strategy aimed at weakening the NPP’s appeal to Ghanaians.

According to him, the Movement for Change never intended to win power because they already knew they couldn’t, but focused solely on making the NPP “look unattractive to Ghanaians.” He claimed that the group succeeded in its mission, stating, “Our focus was to cause NPP’s defeat, and we achieved that. We don’t care about coming to power, our primary goal was to soul the NPP.” He also praised Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, for playing key role in attaining this strategy. He said Alan Kyerematen was happy about the results, as such, has recently been looking “fresh and happy” following the milestone achieved.

He further urged former President John Dramani Mahama to make wise appointments that would benefit the grassroots, emphasising the importance of inclusive governance. He said some people who got appointments, like Duncan Amoah were not on the field during the campaign season, as such appointments infuriates the grassroots.

This revelation has sparked mixed reactions, with critics accusing the Movement for Change of being a political tool designed to undermine the NPP, while others see it as a strategic move in Ghana’s competitive political space. The comments have raised questions about the role of third-party movements in shaping outcomes and their impact on Ghana’s democracy.

We await patiently for responses from key stakeholders, including the NPP, NDC and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, regarding these claims.
