Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has showered praise on Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante for scoring an incredible long-range goal in their 2-0 away win over Swansea City in the English Championship on Saturday.

Brandon Thomas-Asante delivered a standout performance as Coventry City secured their first-ever victory over Swansea City with at the Swansea Stadium.

The Sky Blues took the lead in the 17th minute when Thomas-Asante set up Ellis Simms, who calmly slotted home from close range. Despite dominating possession, Swansea struggled to break down Coventry’s disciplined defense.

Just before halftime, Thomas-Asante doubled Coventry’s lead in stunning fashion, unleashing a powerful right-footed strike from outside the box that flew into the top corner, leaving the Swansea goalkeeper with no chance.

Swansea pushed forward in the second half but failed to trouble the Coventry keeper, managing only six shots without a single effort on target. In contrast, the visitors were clinical, making the most of their opportunities to secure all three points.

“It was an instinctive goal and probably nobody else in the stadium thought he [Thomas-Asante] would take it on,” Lampard told BBC in an interview after the game.

“But he took it on and the quality of his technique and execution made it a very special goal. He deserves to have a big smile on his face after that.”

Thomas-Asante’s goal and assist bring his season tally to four goals and two assists in 29 Championship appearances.

With this victory, Coventry City move up to 11th place with 41 points and will look to build on their momentum when they host Leeds United on February 5th at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
