FC Barcelona Announces Incoming Player Transfer In Blow To Real Madrid

FC Barcelona announced an incoming player transfer on Saturday afternoon in Catalonia via a statement sent to members of the press.

“FC Barcelona and CD Eldense have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Canarian striker, who signs as a blaugrana until June 30, 2027,” the short correspondence read.

As explained by SPORT, however, Barca has pulled off a coup by signing the 21-year-old because of several clubs including bitter rival Real Madrid wanting him.

Los Blancos sought Godoy at the start of the month, with AS reporting around January 8 that he would sign for them “ in the coming days” to boost the Castila reserve outfit currently managed by club legend Raul Gonzalez.

An agreement between Madrid and Eldense was meant to see the defending La Liga champion sign Godoy for $2.06 million (€2 million) including add-ons.

Three weeks later, however, Godoy has snubbed both Cadiz and Florentino Perez to join the Blaugrana.

No figures have been given as per how much Barca has paid for Godoy, who is described as a centre-forward who can occupy other attacking positions on either the left or right wing.

Godoy excels at finding spaces between the center-backs and boasts remarkable technical qualities, though it must be noted that he is yet to score a goal this term across 13 appearances this term that have come in the La Liga Hypermotion and the Copa del Rey.

Godoy could get chances to impress Albert Sanchez boss at Barca Atletic, though, which has just lost midfielder Unai Hernandez to Al-Ittihad.

The second team’s lead apperance maker in 2024/2025 had his head turned by the Saudis, who have agreed to pay Barca $5.2 million (€5 million) for a talent that joined it from Girona’s academy in 2022.

Hernandez didn’t want to wait around to see if he could make the lead from Barca Atletic to Hansi Flick’s senior side as double pivot Marc Casado did last summer despite also being taken on the preseason tour of the United States.

If he can find his feet at his new club, Godoy will endeavour to make his way into the German’s plans in the near future.
