Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has expressed disappointment over the recent scuffle that erupted between the Minority and Majority MPs during a Parliament Appointments Committee session.
In a post shared on X on January 31, 2025, Prince David Osei has described the altercation between the two caucuses as disheartening and appalling.
He emphasised that lawmakers should adhere to decorum and professionalism when conducting government business.
“It is disheartening to witness lawmakers resorting to fighting and vandalizing instead of upholding decorum and etiquette. How can we expect their supporters to act differently?” he said.
Prince David Osei further stated that the lack of respect and honour among the lawmakers is concerning for Ghana’s democracy.
“This lack of respect and honour is alarming. We must strive to cultivate tolerance and responsibility so that our followers will emulate the same values. Today is a sad day for Ghanaian democracy,” he added.
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, tensions escalated during the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Minister of Health-designate, and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs-designate.
This occurred when the Majority MPs on the Appointments Committee insisted on continuing the vetting session beyond 10 PM, but the Minority strongly opposed, declaring they were done for the day.
The clash led to a physical altercation between MPs, resulting in some equipment being damaged.
